Christmas

Posted by thecoachinglighthouse on January 2, 2010 at 10:59 PM

I noticed that there was a sense of gratitude that was much deeper than inprevious years for me and many of those around me. A time to spend with thefamily and loved ones to bring people closer and to do service, even secretly, for others. Many of my family came to our place for Christmas and wouldn't youguess it, Santa showed up too.

Our family has a mix of relationships, some married, some divorced andothers that have been dating for quite some time. Some of the kids are not withus every year so this year we were all together, what a blessing. As I observedthe different gifts and abundance given to each person I realized that the onesthat were hurting the most financially gave the most. Giving is so connected tohow happy we feel. And sometimes when we give it is out of feeling inadequateor making up for something that is lacking. And other times it is just becauseyou feel in your heart it is what you want to do because you are grateful forwhat you have, no matter how big or small, and you want to share your love.

After the festivities were through I spent a day of recouping and cleaning. My daughter has a little girl up the street she loves to play withand we had her over on Wednesday the 30th. They did not get along that day. Kept arguing and fighting over funny little things (at least for me it waslittle) so I took the girl home not even an hour into the play date. Seems asthough children may come down even harder than us adults after the excitementof Christmas is over. With Santa gone and the presents opened and all thatcandy, no wonder they need a day to rest, even friends. Little guys are justlike us just experiencing many of these things for the first time and notknowing how to process and ask for what they want.It is noce to know what is needed and being able to change the situation to accommodate ourselves and those around us!

I hope you had a Merry Christmas and that it was all you wanted andmore!
